Spring, with its abundance of fresh flowers and newborn animals, is a frequent and fitting example of a Christian's life.
We've spent the last few months here at The Gardens enjoying this time of revitalization through arts and crafts, flower arrangements and Easter celebrations.
Summer officially begins next month, but before we say goodbye to the current season, let's dig a little deeper into the lessons we can apply to our personal lives through relatable Bible verses about spring taken from the New International Version.
Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like spring rains that water the earth. Hosea 6:3
The hope of the Christian's life stems from God's love and forgiveness towards us. Though we can falter in our walk with Him, He is quick to forgive us when we pray. Like a refreshing rain, He renews us when we choose to turn to Him and seek Him with all our hearts.
For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. Isaiah 61:11
It's important for believers to remember that for true growth in our actions and attitudes, we have to depend on God. As humans, we may desire to live a better life, but we still struggle with our weaknesses and sinful nature. Like a sprouting garden, however, God's transforming power changes us over time to be more like Christ once we shift our focus away from trying to fix ourselves and focus on responding to His touch.
The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58:11
Jesus is faithful to His promise to never leave us or forsake us. We may encounter seasons of hardships and droughts throughout our lives, but the knowledge that God will always give us what we need lets us face each day with hope and strength.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
Just like the flush of new leaves and budding flowers that come out each spring, Christians can be sure they too will flourish and bloom in their spiritual walk. God's ways are not our ways, so there are times when we may not understand what is happening in our lives, but we can trust in His infinite wisdom and grace. Hebrews 10:36 encourages us to remember to be patient as we follow God's will because when the time is right, we will receive His promises.
As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease. Genesis 8:22
God never changes (Hebrews 13:8, Numbers 23:19, James 1:17). In the same way that we can draw comfort from the return of the sun each morning and spring after every winter, we can rest assured that God's love and promises remain unaffected by the circumstances in our lives. This lets us continue to pray and praise during every new season we encounter.
